Health officials report 211 new cases of COVID-19, three additional death in W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va (WDTV) - West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources officials reported 211 new COVID-19 cases in the Mountain State on Monday.

It brings the total count to 156,617.

A total of 810,232 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 680,025 people in the state have been fully vaccinated.

DHHR officials also reported three additional COVID-19 related deaths in the state Monday bringing the death count to 2,729.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 91-year old female from Berkeley County, a 74-year old male from Wayne County, and a 63-year old male from Kanawha County.

“Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.

DHHR officials said 6,983 cases are currently active.
