It's National Call Your Doctor Day!
It's the second Tuesday in June, which means it's time to schedule your annual exams on National Call Your Doctor Day.
The non-profit Bright Pink is encouraging women to make those ever important well-woman exams. These exams can not only help set a yearly baseline for your health, but they can also save lives.
Annual exams can find breast and ovarian cancers before any warning signs or symptoms occur, giving patients the greatest chance of survival. In fact, regular screenings with mammography has resulted in 30% fewer deaths from breast cancer, according to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
But according to a 2015 survey by ZocDoc, 80% of Americans put off or don't get preventative care. And for millennials, that number increases to a staggering 93%. So today, take that important and healthy step. Call your doctor and set your appointment for your exam, get it on the calendar, and encourage other women in your life to do the same.
