Tasty Tuesday: The Cupcakerie
The Cupcakerie in Downtown Morgantown opened in 2011 after owners Anna Carrier and Janet Williams decided to leave their legal careers for cupcakes.
"She wanted to start her own business and I begged her to do a cupcake store with me, so she did," Williams said.
Carrier added, "Janet's been baking for her children for years, I've been baking with my grandmother and my mom."
All of the cupcakes are baked from scratch daily and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
"The way to get a customer back is by having the best product that's always consistent, and always consistently good," said Carrier.
In addition to regular, mini, and jumbo size cupcakes, they also specialize in cakes and sell coffee drinks.
"What intrigued me was just so many different options and flavors," said customer Caitlin Burton.
Another customer, Joy Carr-Furbee, added, "They have something new all the time, they have seasonal things to try, and it really has become our go-to for things like office parties and little surprises."
Each cupcake recipe starts with an idea. Recipes can be inspired by just about anything, including family memories, celebrities, and holidays. Then, the recipe goes through multiple trials in the test kitchen. When the recipe is just right, it's ready for customers.
With over 80 different flavor combinations to choose from online, and 10-12 flavors in store each day, there's something for everyone at the Cupcakerie.
"It's just a fun experience and a nice little treat," said Carr-Furbee.
